This Iwo Jima mural, now on display at the Combat Air Museum, was originally
installed at the entrance tower to the Kansas Free Fair in Topeka in 1948.
The Free Fair, which opened in 1915 and operated until 1983, was based at
the site where today’s Kansas Expocenter sits, along south Topeka Boulevard.
